Ramadan Fundraising Event

for SMART Hospital in Azad Jammu Kashmir by Developing World Healthcare in Slough, UK

On April 15, 2023, Developing World Healthcare (DWH), a well-known non-profit organisation, held a Ramadan fundraising event in Slough. The event aimed to raise funds to construct and develop the SMART Hospital in Azad Jammu Kashmir. It was hosted by Mr. Tabasum Sheheen and attended by a diverse group of individuals, including prominent business leaders from the surrounding areas and politicians from Azad Kashmir.

The event was organised by Mr. Abid Hussain, the CEO of DWH, who highlighted the importance of the SMART Hospital project in his address to the attendees. “The SMART hospital is not only a hospital but a teaching, training, and capacity-building organisation to create the future Doctors, Nurses, and healthcare professionals for Azad Kashmir,” said Mr. Hussain.

Mr. Hussain expressed his gratitude to former Prime Minister of AJK Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, who donated 150 canals of land in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir. Additionally, he thanked the overseas diaspora of the Azad Kashmiri community living in the UK for their continuous support of the project.

The fundraising event featured various activities, including keynote speeches and donation drives. The donations will be utilised for the construction of the SMART Hospital. This hospital will offer cutting-edge healthcare services to the citizens of Azad Jammu Kashmir. It will also serve as a centre for medical education and training.

The SMART Hospital project aims to bridge the gap in healthcare services and medical education in the region. It will also offer specialised training programs for aspiring medical professionals in medicine, nursing, and allied health sciences.

The successful outcome of the fundraising event showcases the dedication and commitment of the Azad Jammu Kashmiri diaspora in the UK. and the wider community to support development projects to improve their compatriots’ lives back home.
